Happy New Year to you! With the new year comes the tradition to make those resolutions, to set those goals of expectation and then comes the pressure for success in obtaining those goals before the new year is over. You’ve seen it time and time again, the gym’s and fitness centers fill up and become more packed after January 1’st then ever before. People are more driven, focused and there seems to be an excitement in the air. A feeling of newness and new beginnings.
But what if you didn’t accomplish all the goals you wanted to accomplish from the previous year? What if people you know seem to be conquering their goals year after year, time after time, again and again? Do you compare yourself to those individuals, beat yourself up, give up, quit and decide not to make new goals for this new year? Or do you just put those aside and start a whole new set of resolutions and goals?
We are all individuals, we are all here on this glorious earth for a different purpose in this life and we all have different goals. It’s important not to lose sight of that. I know it’s tough sometimes when you see another person especially if it’s someone close to you conquering every goal and new years resolution they’ve ever set. It’s also extremely important not to compare yourself to other people and other peoples successes. Always remember you are special, you are an individual set apart, different from other people, you have been made unique, we all have. Which means you were created for the purpose to walk in the talents and gifts that YOU were called to walk in, in this life. Just because someone else seems on the outside to be doing better and achieving more doesn’t always mean they are happy or peaceful or satisfied in their personal life. You’ve heard the phrase “you never know what someone is going through until you’ve walked in their shoes.” And you never know how difficult or easy the goals were that individual had set for themselves. Instead of feeling discouraged how about celebrating and being joyful for the successes of other people and realizing that if they can do it so can you.
When you stay focused on the road in front of you and keep your eye on the glorious path you were called to walk on, then eventually break through shows up. Eventually things begin to turn around, you will reach your goals and conquer those resolutions. It’s when you take your eyes off of your own purpose and what you want to accomplish in this new year and start focusing on what other people are doing and comparing yourself to them, that’s when you will completely lose sight of your goals. Don’t take your eyes off of the prize (your goals, your resolutions), stay focused, stay encouraged, stay motivated and most importantly praise and celebrate other peoples successes. Stay disciplined to get to the point where those goals and resolutions become absolutely obtainable to you.
Again, Happy New Year and thank you so much for visiting my blog. I would love to hear about your successes your resolutions and what you plan to accomplish this next year. Please don’t be shy to share your stories of hope and encouragement, you never know when someone may need it. And remember life is beautiful!!!
